Welcome to D Fitness!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

If you’ve chosen to enter my world, then you’ve chosen to enter a world of strength.

I am a certified general fitness instructor as well as a floor-aerobics, step-aerobics, and Pilates instructor. I specialize in training women of all shapes and sizes, which does not mean that I don’t train men… but we all know that there are differences and I think it’s important to be aware of them in order to treat your body in the best way possible. Teaching big classes in fitness studios is one of the things I love most, but my experience and knowledge truly stems from my one-on-one training sessions. The personal work has allowed me to understand the woman’s body and its sensitivities.

Once you enter my world, you will find blogs about strength training, equipment, options. In addition, I discuss sports nutrition, importance of rest and taking care of your body as best as possible. There are explanations about Pilates, aerobic training, women’s training as opposed to men’s training, and body-awareness. There are even blogs about music and literature… which keeps me motivated throughout.

I hope you find my blog helpful, and most importantly- ENJOY!

Yours,

D

Your Body is Your Artwork

Hi there!

Well my answer the this question is: I HAVE NO IDEA! Except for the fact that there are so many diet fads out there that think carbohydrates are the devil for some reason, and then they create propaganda that will make people buy into what it is that they’re selling (a.k.a fast and easy weight loss). Sure! If you stop eating carbs you see a significant change in your body in a short amount of time, but whatever change it is, I guarantee you that it will not stick.

First off, let’s think about what we have left to eat once we have eliminated the carbs… let’s leave veggies and fruits aside even though they are listed as carbs as well. Okay, so we have fat and protein, in the general scope of things. And of course, if you consume more protein they your body actually needs, then it will turn right into unwanted fat. Yes, it’s true! if you eat too many carbs they, too, will turn into fat. The trick is to be smart about it.

You need carbs for energy and there is no reason to fear it. In fact, it should make up about 65% of your daily caloric intake. And the reason it is so important is because during digestion, the human body turns the carbs into glucose which then gets to our muscles through the blood stream and enables us to run, walk, jump up and down, squat, perform bicep curls… need I go on?

Having said that, I aim for complex carbs which are found in whole grains. It takes longer form them to break down and enter the blood. But if I’m nearing a training session and I need energy shortly, then I will opt for the simple carb- grapes, plum, maybe a glass of milk with silan (date honey), but my problem is my addiction to iced coffee… at least I have this simple carb before a workout ;)

So, in the meantime, I’m off to enjoy a natural peanut butter sandwich with whole wheat bread!
